“August Drift” original oil painting by Clint Bova

“August Drift”
15 x 24 Oil on wood panel
Clint Bova August 2025

“Having been born and raised in Hawaii, I still have not gotten used to the seasonal changes in light, especially on rivers here in the Midwest. As fall approaches, I find the subtle changes in temperature and light to be very compelling. It's these subtleties that I don't see back home on the island, where typically it's more about the time of day than seasonal shifts. The shy Brown trout always stay in the shadows, especially in August, which is always a distraction when I'm painting plein air on the rivers in the fall months.”

(locale: The Mad River, upper section of the watershed, West Liberty, Ohio)
