Painting during my travels in search of native Brook Trout allows me to experience so many possibilities for subject matter. “Appalachian Morning” is a blue-lining dream, an area in the Smoky Mountains that contains native Brook Trout. These trout are truly the crown jewels of Appalachia. One of my favorite secret spots is painted here in plein air fashion on a small canvas. “Appalachian Morning” is the 5th painting of the Blue Lining Series for 2026.
