Every year, I do an entry announcing my personal favorite product. For 2025, I'm selecting Cutthroat Leaders from Boise, Idaho, as my #1 pick.
I had the pleasure of testing these furled leaders all summer long. I have personally used them on a multitude of river conditions and attached them to a few popular brands of silk and synthetic lines. As both a dry and wet fly enthusiast, these leaders are crafted to the utmost quality. These leader savants know their stuff, and their hand skills are second to none. Cutthroat Leaders have a wide selection of leaders for pretty much every fly option and river situation.
A significant advantage of these leaders is that they offer a wide range of options for different applications. High-vis dry fly leaders, as well as nymph and wet fly specific furled leaders. They offer a “Shorty” dry fly leader at 50", which is a killer leader for my midge rods and shorter spring creek rods. These things float like corks all day long! Apply their Otter Butter judiciously, and your leader is good to go for several hours.
